LONDON, United Kingdom — Arsenal Football Club surpassed 1,000 international caps for the England men’s national team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final match against Norway.
Golden Info reports that Arsenal confirmed the milestone on its website on Monday, July 13, 2026, after four of its players featured in the fixture. Declan Rice and Noni Madueke started the match, while Bukayo Saka and Ebere Eze entered as half-time substitutes.
The appearances brought the club’s total to 1,002 England caps. According to the club, 73 players have contributed to the total since goalkeeper Jimmy Ashcroft made his debut in 1906. “Madueke and Eze are the latest Arsenal players to earn England caps after making their debuts in September 2025,” the club said.
Arsenal is the fourth club to reach the 1,000-cap mark for England internationals. The club sits behind Manchester United with 1,423 caps, Liverpool with 1,209, and Tottenham Hotspur with 1,062.
Former midfielder Kenny Sansom holds the record as Arsenal’s most-capped England international with 87 appearances. Among current squad members, Saka is fourth on the all-time club list with 55 appearances, trailing Sansom, David Seaman with 72 caps, and Tony Adams with 66 caps.
Saka holds the club record for the most England goals scored by an Arsenal player with 14, surpassing Cliff Bastin‘s total of 12. Overall, 34 of the club’s England internationals have scored a combined 116 goals for the national team, with Ted Drake maintaining the best goals-per-game ratio after scoring six goals in five appearances during the 1930s.
