LONDON, England — Arsenal Football Club manager Mikel Arteta has agreed to a new extended contract featuring a salary increase with the Premier League champions, according to reports published on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
The British Broadcasting Corporation reported that the Spanish manager reached a final agreement with the English club to extend his tenure following several months of negotiations.
Golden Info reports that Mikel Arteta accepted a deal that increases his salary beyond his previous £10 million ($13.3 million USD) annual wage, with an additional £5 million ($6.6 million USD) made available through performance bonuses.
The agreement prolongs Mikel Arteta’s stay at Arsenal Football Club past his previous contract expiration date at the end of the 2026/27 season, positioning him to reach at least ten years of service following his initial appointment in December 2019.
The agreement follows statements from Arsenal Football Club chief executive Richard Garlick, who stated in August 2026 that the manager would sign a new contract as discussions reached their final phase.
“They don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here. I’m extremely happy and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with,” Mikel Arteta said in response to inquiries regarding his contract status.
