OSOGBO, Nigeria — Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission declared incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke the winner of the Osun State governorship election on August 16, 2026.
Golden Info reports that returning officer Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole announced the final result following the completion of vote collation across the state’s 30 local government areas.
Adeleke, running as the candidate for the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his primary challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who received 444,815 votes.
Voting data showed that Adeleke won in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji captured the remaining 11 districts.
The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third in the gubernatorial contest with 17,180 votes.
