LAGOS, Nigeria — The West African Examinations Council released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school candidates across Nigeria on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Golden Info reports that the examination body announced the release via its official X platform account. “UPDATE: 2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released. Generate your PIN at http://waec.org and check your results now on http://waecdirect.org,” the council said.
Approximately 1.96 million candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools participated in the examination, which took place from April 21 to June 19, 2026. While most centres utilised the traditional pen-and-paper format, a larger number of schools opted for the computer-based testing option compared to previous years.
Candidates must generate a Personal Identification Number and serial number on the council’s main website before accessing their grades on the result-checking portal. The verification process requires students to provide their examination number, their National Identification Number, and contact details for a one-time password.
The publication of these grades occurred approximately 45 days after the final paper and follows the earlier release of the 2026 First Series computer-based examination results for private candidates.
