MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East executing Operation HADIN KAI arrested four suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province logistics suppliers and intercepted 20 fleeing militant family members across Yobe State and Borno State on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Capt. Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North-East), issued a written statement detailing the arrests. Golden Info reports that Goni confirmed the military recovered bulk supplies and detained the suspects following intelligence-led operations targeting insurgent routes.
Personnel from the 159 Battalion operating under Sector 2 detained two suspected terrorist collaborators during a cordon-and-search operation in Geidam, Yobe State. Military investigators determined the suspects supplied hard drugs and logistical equipment to insurgents, resulting in the confiscation of suspected Indian hemp, mobile phones, power banks, medical syrups, automated teller machine cards, and ₦14,530 ($9.68).
At 3:30 p.m. WAT on the same day, forces from the Sector 3 Garrison and the 242 Reconnaissance Battalion captured two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers in Monguno, Borno State. “During preliminary interrogation, the suspects confessed to conveying food items and other supplies to ISWAP terrorists operating in Kwatan Dowoshi Village, Kukawa Local Government Area,” Goni said.
Items seized during the Monguno operation included 11 cartons and 192 sachets of biscuits, one carton of milk, 10 mudu of sugar, nine bars of soap, six headlamps, two bags and 16 rolls of sachet garri, three packs of lighters, two mobile phones, one assault knife, one charm belt, four prayer beads, six packs of herbal medicine, and ₦6,600 ($4.40).
Operating along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area, troops from the 222 Battalion intercepted a group of 20 suspected family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad militants. The detained group comprised nine women, two men, eight female minors, and one male minor fleeing recent military operations.
“During preliminary investigation, they disclosed that they escaped from Gezuwa after a military offensive against their settlement. The individuals have since been handed over to the 21 Military Intelligence Regiment for further profiling and necessary action,” the statement said.
