LAGOS, Nigeria — Samson Eletu, a Nigerian socialite and music promoter popularly known as Sam Larry, is alive and receiving medical treatment following a fatal collision between his vehicle and a trailer on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road in Lagos State during the early hours of Saturday.
Golden Info reports that Akin Abolade, an associate of the music promoter, debunked circulating rumours of the socialite’s death during an interview on Monday.
“Yes, he’s alive and not dead, but his condition cannot be ascertained because of how bad the accident was. We spoke after the accident. He’s alive, and I’m sure of that,” Abolade said.
The crash involved a vehicle conveying the socialite and a trailer, leaving the passenger vehicle extensively damaged. A private security guard working as a bouncer for the promoter, identified only as Wale, died at the scene of the collision.
Attention regarding the incident escalated after Nigerian comedian Mario Wazobia published posts on social media requesting prayers for the music promoter and stating that he had been hospitalised. Unverified claims subsequently circulated suggesting that the promoter’s legs were severely damaged and might require amputation.
Abolade stated he could not verify the information regarding the condition of the socialite’s legs or the possibility of an amputation.
